The Summer is coming to a close seemingly just a few weeks after it arrived, and the leaves are actually beginning to turn (yikes!). Before you know it the little white flakes will be dancing in the air – oh joy. It's been an absolutely great summer on the bay I must say, but now it's time to get back on the road.
Some great news for the upcoming tour: I am happy to announce that my special guest for the Fall tour will be the multi-talented lead singer from Prairie Oyster, Mr. Russell De Carle. Joining us for more than 30 shows, Russell will be performing songs from his latest solo CD and joining me on a couple of tunes as well. He is an outstanding talent and entertainer and I am looking forward to touring with him. Check the tour schedule for the dates when Russell will be with us.
That's right – I have joined forces with the Canadian Armed Forces. Actually I have joined with Canada Company to help raise funds for the Canada Company registered charity. Please visit the Canada Company website and see what we are doing to support our brave men and women and their loved ones. The new CD Journeys will not be available in stores – it will be sold at all the shows with the proceeds going to Canada Company. The Fall tour will focus many songs on our Veteran community, on their sacrifices, dedication and love of country. I encourage you to visit the website and support this effort.
We launch the tour and our effort for the Veterans on October 31st at the Glen Gould Studio. It will be a very special evening to salute all Canadian veterans. See the concert schedule for more details.
On November the 9th and 10th we will be in Boston to celebrate the Marine Corps birthday – and to also celebrate the 100th birthday of John Finn the oldest living recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor. It will be an event to remember.
On August 28th and 29th I performed at the wake and attended the funeral mass for Senator Edward M. Kennedy. It was a great honour and a very moving experience for me. He touched many lives in such a positive way including my own, and when I first performed in the United States in 1995 it was Ted who helped to open so many doors for me. He was what every new up and comer needed – a champion. He was my champion and more importantly my friend from day one. I will be eternally grateful to Ted and Vicki for their support and friendship, and he will be sorely missed but never forgotten. (Photos 1, 2)
